Yes yes, yes! š Did you know that this year is the year of the TIGER šÆ š and that I'm actually a TIGER šÆ š 𤣠(explains all the aggressiveness I know I know š).
Sooooo, since I haven't eaten dumplings š„ in ageeesss and shaomai neither I kind of made a hybrid version 𤤠which turned out so so so delicious! š
TOFU MUSHROOM DUMPLINGS/ SHAOMAI (VG & GF & HP)
š±Ingredients filling (2 portions):
ā¾ļø 300g firm tofu
ā¾ļø 1 slice of ginger
ā¾ļø 100g oyster mushrooms
ā¾ļø 1 diced eggplant
ā¾ļø 2 big tsp of Chinese 5-spice mushroom sauce
ā¾ļø 1,5 tbsp dark soy sauce
ā¾ļø black pepper
ā¾ļø 1 tbsp sesame oil
Wrapper:
ā¾ļø 8 rice paper sheets
Dipping sauce:
ā¾ļø 1 tbsp rice vinegar
ā¾ļø 1 tbsp soy sauce
ā¾ļø 1 tsp maple syrup
š©š»āš³Method:
1ļøā£Prepare the filling first: dice the eggplant, pull apart the mushrooms, and heat up sesame oil in a pan. Add the veggies, the mushroom sauce, black pepper, soy sauce & ginger. Let this sautĆ© for 1 min. Then scramble up the tofu and add it in as well. Let this cook (add splashes of water if needed) for about 6-7 min on medium high.
2ļøā£Soak the rice paper sheets in water then stack 2 of them on top of each other. Cut into 4 parts and add filling in each of the parts. Fold it together and put in a steamer. let this steam for 2 min and then enjoy! š (make the dipping sauce by just combining it together ;)
