Yes yes, yes! 🙌 Did you know that this year is the year of the TIGER 🐯 🐅 and that I'm actually a TIGER 🐯 🐅 🤣 (explains all the aggressiveness I know I know 😎).
Sooooo, since I haven't eaten dumplings 🥟 in ageeesss and shaomai neither I kind of made a hybrid version 🤤 which turned out so so so delicious! 😋
TOFU MUSHROOM DUMPLINGS/ SHAOMAI (VG & GF & HP)
🌱Ingredients filling (2 portions):
◾️ 300g firm tofu
◾️ 1 slice of ginger
◾️ 100g oyster mushrooms
◾️ 1 diced eggplant
◾️ 2 big tsp of Chinese 5-spice mushroom sauce
◾️ 1,5 tbsp dark soy sauce
◾️ black pepper
◾️ 1 tbsp sesame oil
Wrapper:
◾️ 8 rice paper sheets
Dipping sauce:
◾️ 1 tbsp rice vinegar
◾️ 1 tbsp soy sauce
◾️ 1 tsp maple syrup
👩🏻🍳Method:
1️⃣Prepare the filling first: dice the eggplant, pull apart the mushrooms, and heat up sesame oil in a pan. Add the veggies, the mushroom sauce, black pepper, soy sauce & ginger. Let this sauté for 1 min. Then scramble up the tofu and add it in as well. Let this cook (add splashes of water if needed) for about 6-7 min on medium high.
2️⃣Soak the rice paper sheets in water then stack 2 of them on top of each other. Cut into 4 parts and add filling in each of the parts. Fold it together and put in a steamer. let this steam for 2 min and then enjoy! 😊 (make the dipping sauce by just combining it together ;)
