STICKY POMEGRANATE ASIAN TEMPEH

Hi Guys!

Today I'm coming at you with one of new favourite tempeh recipes! A STICKY POMEGRANATE ASIAN TEMPEH! 🤤 The combination of the sweet pomegranate molasses I use with the salty soy sauce & sour vinegar is just literally dancing taste buds🤪! If you never tried tempeh before, I truly hope you give this recipe a try! It is such a healthy & delicious food I recommend everybody to try!

The Asian cuisine is really my favourite of all ☺️. I know I'm biased lol🤪 but still, there are so many delicious flavours together with nutrient rich foods is just amazing! It's incredible what you can create with just a couple of ingredients! Tempeh is next to tofu and edamame my favourite vegan protein source🌱, it's packed with healthy plant-based proteins, healthy probiotics (as tempeh is fermented) and so so so much more health benefits! The best is that we combine it with a marinade to make this healthy food extremely tasty! I tell you, once you made this recipe don't be surprised if it's gone within 1-2 days 🙃!

Let me tell you a bit more about tempeh...

Tempeh is a traditional Indonesian food made from soybeans that have been fermented, or broken down by microorganisms. Here are some of the health benefits:

  1. It positively influences healthy gut bacteria

  2. High in protein

  3. May reduce cholesterol levels

  4. May decrease oxidative stress

  5. Promotes bone health!

So what stops you from trying this amazing food?

Jen, substitutes please?

O no! You don't have everything at home? Then I have some substitution ideas for you!

  • Tempeh: not such a fan of tempeh? 🥲 Then we can't be friends 🤪 jokinggggg of course! You can also use vegan chicken or tofu! Works well for sure!

  • Pomegranate molasses: any molasses would work!

  • Maple Syrup: Honey or Agave syrup would be a great substitute as well!

  • Soy Sauce: coconut aminos or tamari (gluten-free soy sauce) is of course also possible!

Method:

1️⃣Cut the tempeh into smaller pieces, add the oil and salt & black pepper. Then either let this bake in the oven for 20-25 min on 170C or bake in the air fryer for 10 min!

2️⃣Mix the marinade ingredients together in a separate bowl. If you want a stronger flavour, double the marinade! 🤪 Once the tempeh is done, let it cool for 5 minutes.

3️⃣Heat up 1 tbsp of sesame oil in a frying pan, add the tempeh and the marinade. Let this cook for another 2 minutes until the tempeh has absorbed the amazing marinade! 🌱. Serve with some spring unions & black sesame seeds. ENJOY!
